GEL's aim is to create a 'safety first' approach to all its business activities.
GEL is committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of its employees. GEL will take steps to ensure compliance with its statutory duties and the aims set out in its Health and Safety Policy. The successful implementation of GEL's policy requires total commitment and co-operation from all levels of management and employees within the company.

GEL also fully accepts its responsibility for others coming into contact with the business. The company will ensure this through the provision of adequate resources to protect both employees and any others affected by GEL's work activities.

Every new employee will be given health and safety guidance when they join the Company. Each current employee will be given refresher information, instruction and training as is necessary to enable the safe performance of work activities.

GEL reminds each individual that they have a legal obligation to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and the safety of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.

The learning does not stop once the Apprenticeship is completed. All GEL apprentices are expected to complete up to HNC level, and are actively encouraged to continue with their studies, either to HND, foundation or degree level, challenging boundaries and pushing for success.

Adequate facilities and arrangements are maintained to enable employees to raise issues of safety, health or environmental concern. GEL's 'Report It' system provides a formal mechanism for any SHE (Safety, Health and Environmental) issue to be aired.
